University of Oregon
UO Emergency Mangement

Emergency Types

A significant natural or human-caused hazard would have an impact on the University of Oregon's people, programs and facilities. In recent years, new scientific information and news of other disasters throughout the U.S. and the world have provided heightened awareness of the threats and possible consequences of disasters and an ever-more-vivid picture of our vulnerabilities.

The University is committed to the welfare of its community-students, faculty, staff, visitors-and to preserving the institution. To fulfill its mission and commitments in the event of a disaster, the University should strive to become disaster resilient. Disaster resilience is achieved through awareness, training, and action.

The hazard information page is currently under development and is intended to provide a brief overview of the hazards the UO faces as well as links to resources such as:

  • State agencies;
  • Regional and national organizations;
  • Assessment tools/resources; and
  • State's natural hazard chapters
